Municipality Solves Arsenic, Iron and Manganese Problems with One System
As part of the Environmental Technology Verification Program, Hilltown Township, Pennsylvania pilot tested an iron-based adsorption media in 2003 and 2004 to reduce arsenic levels in its groundwater. While pleased with the media, the Township soon found that it also had to deal with elevated levels of iron and manganese.

New Test Enables Rapid Detection of Legionella
In July 1976, a mysterious illness struck attendees at an American Legion convention being held at a hotel in Philadelphia. Within a few days, 221 Legionnaires and other hotel guests were sickened and 34 had died. The illness was eventually traced to bacteria in the hotel’s cooling tower, which supplied water for the air conditioning system. In 1977, the disease was identified as Legionella pneumophila, but became more commonly known as Legionnaires’ disease.

Public-Private Partnership Meets Water Needs of Michigan’s Fast-Growing I-96 Corridor
Since 2001, The MHOG (Marion, Howell, Oceola and Genoa) Sewer and Water Authority in Michigan has managed an increase in the number of water and wastewater service connections averaging 13.6 percent per year. To accommodate the growth, the Authority has aggressively expanded its service capabilities through ongoing plant construction.
