Rapidly Expanding Water and Wastewater Business in
the Middle East

Reflecting significant growth in its Middle Eastern business, Severn Trent Services recently opened a new branch operations office in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The company now has two offices in the region, having opened its first office in Cairo, Egypt, in 2001.

The new office will support the business development, sales, local sourcing and technical service efforts of the company’s business units that provide water and wastewater treatment technologies, metering products, operations and management services, as well as products for the marine and offshore markets. The branch office will offer local factory-direct, after-sales support in the entire Middle East Gulf region for all of these products, including those sold to the offshore oil and gas industry.

The company’s focus on the oil-rich Middle East is driven by tremendous economic development and infrastructure improvements in parts of the region. The United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, in particular, are experiencing great economic prosperity, which has been accompanied by a significant number of construction projects requiring water and wastewater infrastructure improvements. The result has been some of the world’s largest and most spectacular commercial structures.

According to Marwan Nesicolaci, vice president of international sales and business development for Severn Trent Services, the market for water and wastewater services in the Middle East is, perhaps, growing more quickly than in any other part of the world. “Our business in the region has expanded rapidly, including a recent second contract to provide ClorTec® on-site sodium hypochlorite generating systems to the Abu Dhabi Water & Electricity Authority,” said Nesicolaci. “The new branch office will enable us to better serve our current customers and expand our water and wastewater product and service offerings throughout the Middle East, including the burgeoning market for operations and management services.”
