Severn Trent Laboratories Ltd. Joins Severn Trent Services

Last December, Severn Trent Laboratories Ltd. (STL) the United Kingdom’s leading analytical services organization, became part of Severn Trent Services, with global headquarters in Ft. Washington, Pennsylvania. STL offers leading solutions in water, land and waste analysis, providing scientific services in chemistry, microbiology and ecotoxicity, coupled with sampling, scheduling, field services, equipment for hire, key account management and project management.

STL has five laboratories across the United Kingdom – each focusing on particular areas of environmental testing – extensively equipped to analyze metals, organic, inorganic and microbiological pollutants in a range of matrices including ground, waste and drinking water; soil; sludge; minerals; hazardous and solid waste; industrial effluent; and pharmaceuticals. The company also has service centers located in Scotland and Ireland, and the Severn Trent Laboratories Source division, which has 100 in-field scientists and technicians operating in a wide variety of on-site situations, offers environmental monitoring. The laboratories and service centers form part of a comprehensive network that provides analytical services across the United Kingdom and are supported by a sophisticated logistics department. With a base of more than 600 employees, STL’s multidisciplinary teams of scientists include chemists, microbiologists, biologists, virologists, technicians and environmental scientists.

STL has a wide range of customers across many different markets, including utilities providers, environmental consultants, water treatment companies, site remediators, waste management companies and more. Through sampling, monitoring and analysis activities, the company provides these customers with accurate, legally defensible data. The laboratories business works to a range of nationally and internationally recognized standards and proficiency measures and its processes and methods are continually audited by independent accreditation and certification bodies.
