Heating Systems

EST™ steam heaters can be used in any process that requires heating with steam. Severn Trent Services offers a variety of proven steam heater designs incorporating both direct contact units as well as shell & tube designs.

Direct contact designs include tank steam heaters, used to inject steam directly into process vessels in batch applications. The proven venturi design assures intimate mixing of the steam and process fluid, thus providing more complete condensing as well as agitating and mixing of the tank contents. Some applications include sterilization, mash cooking, waste oil processing and process water heating.

Other direct contact heaters include steam jet heaters and pipeline steam heaters. Both designs heat process streams by the direct injection of steam into a pipeline. This makes them well suited for recycle batch heating as well as continuous processes. Severn Trent Services also supplies direct contact steam heaters that can be used to heat water with steam at pressures approaching atmospheric. These units can be used for hot water supply stations, in-line cooking, slurry heating, sterilization, vessel jacket heating and the recovery of waste heat boilers, furnaces and kilns.

If a process can not tolerate the addition of steam, Severn Trent Services can supply a shell and tube surface heater. Since the hot and cold streams do not make direct contact, these units can cover a wider range of process pressures. Severn Trent Services can also supply bayonet steam heaters for applications requiring steam heating without diluting the product.

EST steam heaters are available in a wide range of sizes and materials. Special sanitary designs with quick disconnect connections are also available.

EST Corporation was acquired by Severn Trent Services in 2001.
