New Developments for Mini ClorTec SCT System
Severn Trent Services have announced the latest development from the revolutionary new ClorTec® SCT low cost mini electrochlorinator. The on-site sodium hypochlorite generator was launched in March 2008 and was assessed in April 2008 as non-hazardous by an independent test body.

The ClorTec® SCT system operates in batch process and generates up to 2kg/day or 4.4 lb/day of sodium hypochlorite at a 0.7 percent chlorine equivalent by combining salt, water and electricity. Hydrogen is diluted at the point of production to 100 times lower than the safe limit. The system’s compact size makes it ideally suited for use with swimming pools, in smaller communities and for other applications where low levels of disinfectant are required. Its integrated, skid-mounted design makes the SCT transportable so that it can be easily moved and installed on site and can be located in temporary locations. The standardised design also allows for easy maintenance.

Alex Lloyd, managing director for Severn Trent Services confirmed, “This confirmation by an independent test company is an exciting achievement for Severn Trent Services. The ClorTec® SCT not only offers an effective and low-cost method for disinfection, but we can now show how the technology delivers a safe and reliable solution for both municipal and industrial water treatment. The innovative work carried out to achieve this represents another first for the water sector.”
