The T Block™ is the most utilized TETRA® underdrain block, used in TETRA DeepBed™ wastewater filters, Denite® reactors, and Industrial DeepBed filters pressure and gravity. In addition the T Block™ is used in the ColOX™ reactors and (SAF) Submerged Aerated Filters.
Severn Trent Services’ T Block meets and exceeds the four functions a filter bottom should have.
Must support the filter media and the pressure loss bearing on it.
- The T Block is constructed with 5,000 psi incased in and HDPE jacket which is more then durable enough to withstand the filter pressure.
A filter bottom should serve as a filtrate collection system.
- The T Block allows for a 4% opening maximizing the drain through filter area.
The filter bottom must ensure that the filter media does not clog the underdrain.
- There is a quarter-inch inch opening between each T Block which ensures clogging of media does not take place.
The filter bottom must ensure uniform distribution of air and water backwashes for the optimum removal of the accumulated impurities from the filter bed.
In addition to meeting all four requirements of a filter bottom the T Block does not require being set in grout. This aspect not only reduces the installation costs but also the time it takes for installation to be completed. Given the fact that one T Block weighs 53 pounds the chances for costly uplift of filter bottoms is greatly minimized.
