Severn Trent Services offers the SORB 33® APU as a commercially available product specifically designed for arsenic removal in a small water system at the wellhead. The APU products are standard package plants, engineered to remove arsenic contamination to less than 10 ppb across a complete range of drinking water systems up to 450 gpm. Mirroring our larger SORB 33® systems, the arsenic package unit (APU) operates under the same principal of pumping source water through a vessel or series of vessels containing the Bayoxide® E33 granular ferric oxide media. As the contaminated water passes through the granular ferric oxide media, arsenic is adsorbed and removed to a level below the less than 10 ppb until the media reaches its capacity. The spent media, which meets TCLP requirements, is then removed and disposed as non-hazardous waste. The SORB 33 APU system design and operation does not require cleaning, regeneration or any other complex process step required for competitive technologies. In addition, the SORB 33 APU process is a cost-effective solution from installation to full operation. The SORB 33 APU offers the same features and benefits of our larger SORB 33 units.
