Severn Trent Services offers the TETRA® DeepBed™ tertiary filtration system, an economical solution for the removal of total suspended solids (TSS). DeepBed filters also provide superior total phosphorus (TP) removal to meet stringent limits below 0.2 mg/l.

Filter media is the heart of the TETRA DeepBed process. Rounded sand grains with a sphericity of at least 0.8 are used in the TETRA DeepBed system. A 6-foot media bed allows for up to 2 pounds of solids per square foot of filter surface area before backwashing is required. The sand media has an effective size that falls in the 2-3 mm range and a maximum uniformity coefficient of 1.4.

TETRA® DeepBed Features and Benefits:

  • Designed with filtration rates up to 8 gpm/ft2 and higher for storm event applications
  • High loading capacity , superb at handling peak loads
  • Contain no nozzles, screens or small orifices, eliminating the possibility of clogging
  • No moving parts
  • Readily handles upset conditions
  • Can easily meet <2 NTU or <5 mg/l TSS (<2 mg/l typical)
  • Percent of dirty backwash water return is less than 4% (<2% typical) of the plant’s forward flow
  • Proven operational success since 1960
  • Can be expanded into denitrification mode
